This Time

I know you don't remember me
We met long ago in a past life
When neither of us was damaged
Neither of us was taken or broken or wounded
Back then our love was easy
It came as naturally as our breathing
We flowed like a clean spring creek
We burned like a winter nights fire
In the evening we explored each others souls
In the dawn we set our hearts free to breathe
I know you don't remember me
We met long ago in a past life
This time around fate was not so kind
We've both been bashed against the rocks
Torn apart by the wolves, left beaten and bleeding
In this life we found each other too late
Even if we'd been on time in our lives
We'd have never trusted our hearts this time
For we've learned in the fire love can hurt worst
But I had to let you know I'm here again
Although time has changed our faces
I know your soul and its song to me
Whatever life we find ourselves in
We might not be lovers this incarnation
But there will never be a life we live
Where we don't find each other
