He instinctively knew there was something magical about her
For he could feel the heat of her flame through miles of phone wire
To be in her presence always felt like he was running to catch up
He wanted so badly to keep her but how could he have known
It was precisely her ability to never get caught that made her so tempting
Someone like her has the cosmos whirling creation in her bones
Like some ancient sea, her depths were too delicious to ignore
But a man would surely drown if he dove in to explore
Could it ever be enough to look into the nebulas of her eyes
To watch the stars of her soul one by one give birth to dreams
And never hold her for a moment in the bars of his arms
Could he ever be satisfied by a kiss from her lips
While her soul evaded capture as it beckoned him like a siren song
He tried to explain how he felt like he never truly had her
She said "Why does man always want to cage what's beautiful and free?"
And he knew he would follow her forever
Because a moment in her favor was worth a thousand wordless deaths
